Cobra Car Club of WA (Inc.)

About Us

Nothing looks, goes OR sounds like a Cobra….

First established in 1996, and incorporated in 1997, the Cobra Car Club of WA fired up to form an organisation where members and enthusiasts could support and promote the Shelby Cobra Legend.   To compliment this, the club provides a forum for like minded people to get together and discuss their cars in great depth, always willing to assist fellow builders complete their projects.

In 2021 we celebrate 25 years, and the club has grown to include over 100 members.   There are 76 registered Cobras (at May 2023) and many more under construction.   The club has developed a family friendly club structure that generally caters for people with a passion for the Shelby Cobra.

WHAT DOES THE CLUB DO?
Apart from turn a lot of heads on our Cobra runs, the aim of the club is to provide a regular meeting point for our members to discuss Cobra trivia such as building specifications and sources, driving and registration related topics.   Whether you are building a new car or buying a pre-loved Cobra, there are important decisions to be made which may include information about manufacturing, costs, registration requirements and insurance.   Most members are experienced Cobra owners and are able to provide practical solutions to pretty much any question that’s raised.

WHAT CAN THE CLUB OFFER?
We have established a tool kit of some of those items that a builder will need for the construction of their cobra but would prefer not to buy.   These items include an engine hoist, a decibel reader, side pipe covers for registration purposes etc.   The majority of these items are owned by members of the club who are prepared to lend them out.   Other items are owned by the club.   Access to these items is available after joining the club and a list of items and their conditions of loan and use are available from the Quartermaster.

Members can access a list of recommended professionals who have been of great assistance to club members in the course of construction or ownership of their cobra.   These professionals include metal fabricators, upholsters/trimmers, auto electricians etc.   Access to this list of professionals is available after joining the club.

And the fun part - the club organises social events for members and guests such as:

·    Weekends away;
·    Bush breakfasts;
·    Lunches and BBQ’s;
·    Shed runs;
·    Kart nights;
·    Track days (normally in conjunction with another car club)
; and
·    Anything else that involves plenty of laughs, good friends and the roaring sound of a Cobra or 20!!
