"Drifting with Drift School WA"

To add a little spice and spontaneity to our event calendar a few of us were keen to try drifting and get a group together.

• WHAT:  Using someone else's cars, under instruction, at Wanneroo Raceway, Neerabup $199.
• WHEN:  14 May 2022.
• WHY:     For fun and learning a new motoring skill.
• HOW:     We will meet there.
• WHO:     There are four of us so far, come along it'll be fun!

What is "Drifting"? Drifting is a driving style in which the driver uses the throttle, brakes, clutch, gear shifting and steering input to keep the car in a state of oversteer while manoeuvring from turn to turn. Drifters emphasise car control by coordinating the amount of counter steer (or opposite lock) with the simultaneous modulation of the throttle and brakes to shift the weight balance of the car back and forth through the turns. Drifting originated in Japanese automobile racing.   It was most popular in the All Japan Touring Car Championship races.   Famous motorcyclist turned driver Kunimitsu Takahashi was the foremost creator of drifting techniques in the 1970s. Note:  This event is run solely by Drift School of Western Australia.   Clicking on the registration button at the bottom this page will record your intention to participate on the CCCWA Events page but will not register you for the event with Drift School WA.   After you have registered with the CCCWA you will receive a confirmation email which contains a link to the Drift School WA website where you can find information regarding registration, drivers apparel, car checks etc and you can register for the event and pay the entry.
